If you’ve been around The Ways of K block a few times, you know that I’m a rosé kind of girl. It’s pink, it’s sweet, and it’s summery – all things I love. It’s no coincidence that National Rosé Day + my birthday are only a couple weeks apart. So while I’ll be celebrating myself in two weeks, rosé will get its chance to shine this weekend. If you’re looking to celebrate this joyous occasion, too, I’ve got some ideas.
Try a new rosé. There is no better way to celebrate National Rosé Day than to expand you rosé palate. My friend Chelsey of Wino on a Budget, suggests White Girl 2015, Underground Wine Project And Why am I Mr. Pink Rose?, Gerard Bertrand Cote des Roses, and Villa Wolf, Pinot Noir Rosé 2016 (P.S. all her picks are under $20).
Think beyond the bottle. One of my FAVORITE summer drinks is the rosé spritzer by Barefoot #noshame. They even released a new one this summer. The spritzer is sweet, bubbly, and comes in a can so it is perfect for camping, the beach, and other places you may want to celebrate National Rosé Day that don’t allow glass. House Wine is another very popular + delicious canned wine.
Think beyond just wine. One thing I’ve been loving this summer is rosé popsicles + National Rosé Day is the perfect time to enjoy them. Here’s what you need: popsicle mold + sticks, a bottle of rosé, strawberries, a lemon, vanilla extract, and sugar. To make them, soak half a pint of sliced strawberries in a mixture of 3 tbsp of sugar, 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract, and the juice of half a lemon for 45 minutes. Add a few strawberry slices to each mold + fill it with rosé leaving about 3/4″ at the top for expansion. Freeze overnight + violá, you’ve got the perfect National Rosé Day treat.
Host a rosé-themed brunch. A few weeks ago, I gave you the lowdown on planning the perfect brunch, now just add the rosé theme! You’ll want to serve rosé, of course, but you’ll also want to choose foods that pair well with rosé. Berries are a given. Avocado toast + eggs are also solid pairings. If hosting a brunch seems like to much work, see if any local restaurants are celebrating National Rosé Day. If they aren’t, who says you can’t start the trend yourselves? Better yet, go on a rosé tasting tour of your city!
If you need me this Saturday, you can find me with a glass of frosé in my hand, hopefully enjoying some sunshine + maybe a pool view to ring in National Rosé Day. Be sure to let me know how you’re celebrating or what your favorite rosé is!
P.S. to all you Apple users hoping to add the accent to rosé, here’s how! If you’re on a Mac press “option” + “e” then add the letter you want to accent. For the iPhone/iPad, hold down on the “e” + you’ll see several accent choices.
