Warmer weather is a upon us! It’s time to dust off your Monica apron, call up some friends, and dig your social life out of the snow bank – or something regionally relevant. With flowers in bloom + freshness everywhere it’s the perfect time to throw a themed event. From brunches to baby showers, these are the spring party themes you should consider for your next soirée.
Spring Party Themes
Patio or Pool Opening: We can all agree patio weather + pool season are the best. Dust off your deck + get your pool ready for spring + summer fun. Fire up that barbeque with hotdogs or kebabs + get the season going. Party must-have: swan floats.
Donuts: Donuts are one of the biggest trends right now, so it’s no surprise they’re one of the spring party themes. They can be used for games or cakes and are perfect for brunch, a child’s birthday, and more. Party must-have: donut board.
Bunnies: You can’t think spring without Easter. You can add some magic by incorporating Alice Wonderland or an adult Easter egg hunt where the eggs are filled with money, liquor, or nail polish. (Then check it off your spring to-do list). Party must-have: bunny ears for all your guests.
Sorbet: Pastels are awesome, but not quite a theme in themselves. Fortunately, you can use all the pastels you want when you pick this as one of your spring party themes. Create a magical wonderland that is light + fresh. Party must-have: sorbet punch.
Wine tasting: We all know wine is the best excuse to get your girlfriends together. With National Wine Day + International Rosé Day in the spring, you can’t not have this party. Pick 4-6 wines for your friends to try + enjoy the time together. Party must-have: charcuterie board.
Farmers Market Fun: There’s nothing quite like a stroll at the farmers market. It’s even more fun to cook with those fresh ingredients. Invite friends over for a nice lunch full of the fresh fruits + veggies you got at the market that morning. Party must-have: strawberry basil cocktail.
Wild Flowers: Speaking of May, the flowers will be in full bloom this month making it the perfect time for a floral extravaganza. Find a flower truck in your area or just head to your local flouriest to get flowers to make arrangements + decorations. Party must-have: a flower crown making station.
Kentucky Derby: The pinnacle of horse racing takes place on May 2. The derby is a fun excuse to dress up with your friends. Pearls, fascinators, and bowties required. Party must-have: mint juleps.
Garden Gnomes: A twist on one of the classic spring party trends, gardens, focusing on the gnomes gives you ample opportunities for you to dress up + create fun games around these mythic creatures. Party must-have: a gnome for every home.
Mimosa: This may not *seem* like a theme, but it totally is. National Mimosa Day is May 16. What better way to celebrate than with a Mimosa bar + some face time with your girlfriends. Host at your home or find a nice rooftop to take advantage of. Party must-have: fresh squeezed orange juice.
Bees: Your bee-themed party will be the bees-knees. A bee-themed brunch wouldn’t be complete without waffles, cocktails flavored with honey, and yellow + black everything. People will be buzzing about your brunch for weeks. Party must-have: honey for your guests to take home.
Cactus: Whether for a bridal shower or Cinco de Mayo, Cacti are the new tacos. Grab some succulents + cactus balloons for décor. A prickly pear margarita is a must for the drink. This is one of my favorite 2019 trends. Party must-have: cactus cupcakes.
Movie Night: I love a movie night. It’s even better with friends. Make some popcorn, hang up a sheet, and turn on a classic flick. I’m thinking an 80s/90s rom-com would be the perfect spring film. Party must-have: comfy pillows.
Cotton Candy: If you know me, you know I love cotton candy everything. Candy, candles – you name it, I love it. So, make your own mini carnival to celebrate Cotton Candy Day on June 11. Cotton candy margarita included. Party must-have: a cotton candy machine.
Tropics: Not being able to go on spring break is a bummer, so give yourself a break with a pretend vacay to a tropical island. Think pineapples + flamingos. Don’t think luau, think the Caribbean or South Pacific. Party must-have: palms everywhere.
No matter what kind of party you’re going to throw this season, one of these spring party trends is going to work for you.
