Last month, I wrote about how thank you notes have become a lost art. Honestly, I think handwritten notes have fallen out of favor. I remember on my 25th birthday, someone brought me a handwritten card + I was kind of taken aback this person who I wasn’t super close with took the time to write in a card she picked out just for me. This inspired me to focus more on putting pen to paper. I mean a story on your Instagram profile is nice + public, but you can’t really tell someone how much they mean to you on such a public medium. Recently, I have been on a quest to find the perfect card for every person in my life. This has led me to discover some adorable brands that you should check out, too!
Strolling through Target – as one does – last year, I was browsing the party section and came across the cutest display. It was for a brand called Minted + was full of distinct greeting cards that were far more interesting than your average Hallmark. I looked up the brand on online + found it’s a website where independent artist can turn their work into cards + other prints to be sold out to the public at mass. As a lover of watercolor + a failer as a painter, I was sold. They carry everything from birthday cards to anniversary cards to holiday cards. You can even get wedding invitations if you are so inclined. They even have a greeting card subscription so you’ll never have to frantically find the perfect card last minute.
Scrolling through Pinterest one day, I discovered a print by Evelyn Henson that I WILL have hanging on the walls of my next apartment. THEN I discovered we also designed hards + I was even more obsessed. Her work is both delicate + messy. Funny + poignant. The tagline on Evelyn’s site is “gifts and designs to inspire a brightly decorated life.” Which is certainly the kind of life I’m going for! She also has gorgeous map cards/prints which are great to send to anyone out-of-state or who is moving to a new place. I want to get one for every city I’ve lived in, but I’d like to make it an even four so I guess I should move, again… This brand carries so much more than cards so get ready to fall in love and buy everything from prints to mugs. There are some great options for Mother’s Day + even the bride-to-be!
May Designs has been a favorite of mine for YEARS. I was even a rep in college when they were just notebooks. Now they carry everything from tumblers to skirts to keychains. Another thing they carry is personalized notecards. While I love a good greeting card, they aren’t perfect for every occasion. That’s why I think it is key to have cute stationery. This allows you the flexibility to 1) give cards for any occasions, 2) have smaller cards for smaller items, and 3) not agonize to find the perfect card for someone you aren’t the closest with. If you love your notecard customization, go crazy and order the same thing on notebooks, tumblers, and more! May Designs is ripe for your personal brand!
If you’re looking for invitations of some kind, I recommend Basic Invite! They have a gorgeous wedding and baby shower invitations. No matter which of these sites you check out, you are sure to find the perfect card.
