When you think shopping, your mind probably goes straight to 5th Avenue or Rodeo Drive. Your mind probably doesn’t take you to Memphis, Tennessee. While we may not have a shopping mecca like New York or LA, there are plenty of great Memphis shopping spots to satisfy the shop-a-holic in us all. Whether you want clothes, shoes, or home goods, these are some of the best places to go when asking yourself where to shop in Memphis.
Where to Shop in Memphis
Laurelwood – Located in the heart of Memphis, Laurelwood is a great spot to pick out a new outfit or pick up something for your sweet tooth. With Talbot’s, Chico’s, and Joesph, it’s a great place to find a present your mom will love.
Shops of Saddle Creek – This is one of my favorite spots in the area. If you’re asking me where to shop in Memphis, this is it. Indigo, Madewell, Anthropology, and Lululemon – it’s a basic bitch’s dream spot. If you haven’t tried Stoney River, you are missing out! It may technically be in the burbs, but Saddle Creek is not to be missed.
Tanger Outlets – New to the area, Southaven features premier outlet shopping for the Memphis-area. If you’re looking for an outlet, this Tanger has it. From J. Crew to Nike to Kate Spade, you’ll want to clear a few hours out of your weekend to get your shop on.
South Main – You don’t get more #ShopLocal than this district. I *may* be biased because I work nearby, but it’s full of cute shops + restaurants, like Stock & Belle. You can also pop by the National Civil Rights Museum while exploring downtown.
Overton Square – This area is a “duh” when thinking about where to shop in Memphis. Like South Main it is full of cute local shops + eateries. Grab yourself a cute sweater from the Ivory Closet + a scrumptious macaroon from 17 Berkshire.
Broad Avenue Arts District – This up + coming district is the perfect place to find a gift for your artsy friend. There are so many handmade products that it is impossible to not find something with personal touches. 20Twelve, Found, Paper & Clay, and Bead Couture are just a few of the options you have while shopping here.
Carriage Crossing – There are several malls in the Memphis area. Oak Court and Wolfchase among them, but the Carriage Crossing mall in Collierville rivals them both. It has everything you could want from a mall with stores like Macy’s, LOFT, Francesca’s, Barnes & Nobles, and Sephora, but it’s all outdoor which makes the experience seem a little more manageable.
No matter where you choose to shop, you won’t be disappointed by the variety in Memphis has to offer. Say a soft goodbye to your bank account before venturing out to any of these places + happy shopping. If you’re hungry after all that weekend shopping, be sure to stop by one of Memphis’ best brunch spots!
