Women spend an average of $759 on beauty products every year. More and more, they want to put those dollars toward products that don’t just make them look good, but that are good. The clean beauty movement is by no means new. In fact, it is estimated that the clean beauty products market reached $5.4 billion in 2020.
What is clean beauty? “Clean” essentially means that the products are safe, non-toxic, and made from ingredients found in nature. There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today, many of which do not have safety data and do not fall under the authority of a regulatory body like the FDA.
As I am preparing for newlywed life, I want to try + actively think about the products I am bringing into my home. I am by no means striving to be 100% clean. But every product I swap for a non-toxic version is only going to make my environment that much better.
Clean Beauty Products I Love
Through some of my favorite influencers, I have been introduced to products and lines of clean beauty products that I absolutely love + use frequently. The items I am sharing below are ones that I have tried + give my full support to.
Thrive Causmetics is one of my newest obsessions. Not just because they don’t contain a variety of harmful ingredients, but because of their ease of use. When I am running late, I use the Brilliant Eye Brightener (get the Muna before it sells out again!) + Triple Threat Color Stick to make me look put together. They’re super portable + easy to use. Another benefit of Thrive is that with every purchase they donate to causes that support women! Get $10 off your first purchase of $50 or more + free shipping with this link!
I was just introduced to FITGLOW Beauty via The Birds Papaya collab. FITGLOW is certified by Think Dirty + uses ingredients that your skin recognizes + can absorb. I have only used their makeup, but I am sure their other products are great, too. The Lip Colour Serum is fire. Get 20% off when you shop this link.
I will sing my support of Megababe from the rooftops. Not only do I love their badass founder, Katie Sturino, but I also love their products. Thigh Rescue is a summer essential for me, a lover of dresses. I also started my foray into natural deodorant with them. Rosy Pits + Sunny Pits are my current go-to’s, but I am hoping to get my hands on Smoothie Deo soon. These deodorants do not contain aluminum + have stood up to the Texas heat + Memphis humidity. I also use + love their Bust Dust, Le Tush, and hand sanitizer. It smells amazing + doesn’t leave my hands feeling gross considering how many times a day I am sanitizing. They also make products for men! All their products are clean, vegan, and cruelty-free!
I was introduced to Playa Beauty by the amazing Heather McMahan. Clean beauty products in the haircare realm have always made me skeptical because of how greasy they leave my hair. What I like about Playa is that they have a wide range of products + tell you how to use them based on your hair type. Their Endless Summer Spray is now an absolute must-have in my curly hair routine. It is better than any sea salt spray. It leaves my hair light (not crunchy) + smells so good. If you want to get started with Playa, I recommend the Mini Essentials Kit. It has three of the main products I use: shampoo, conditioner, and oil. Shop them at Sephora or through my link to get % off!
Olive & June started as a salon in Beverly Hills + branched out to its own line of 7-Free nail polishes. Not only are their polishes non-toxic, but they are also vegan + cruelty-free. Even better, you can shop them at Target! They make more than just polish. They have the cutest nails stickers + tools like quick-dry drops!
ORLY was a Godsend at the beginning of the pandemic when everywhere was closed. They make amazing manicure sets for regular polish + gel. Not only that, but they offer a polish that allows nails to breath + doesn’t require a top or base coat. Fairy God Mother is my absolute fave.
A line of products I haven’t tried but that is used by many women I respect + admire is Beauty Counter. My friend Brooke (a breast cancer warrior, entrepreneur, and mama) swears by these clean beauty products post-chemo. Shop her link to support her + try clean makeup, skincare, and more!
