The Cooper-Young District of Memphis, TN is unlike any other in the area. While there are plenty of fabulous other districts in Midtown + even the suburbs, Cooper-Young has a flair all its own. With a tagline like “Historically Hip” it’s not hard to see why.
With roots dating back to the 1800s, the Cooper-Young district of Memphis is about as eclectic as they come. Century-old homes are nestled around small, family-owned businesses that give the neighborhood a quaint vibe. The area + its businesses host hundreds of events every year, including a festival all their own. Community members + businesses have deep ties with both local artists + the LGBTQ+ community. It may be small in size, but Cooper-Young is mighty in personality + one of the most fun places to spend happy hour with your friends or a Saturday with your boo.
Where to go in Cooper-Young District if you want to…
…grab some coffee. Café Pallido, Bluff City Coffee, and Java Cabana Coffee house are all amazing places in the district to grab a cup of Joe. If you want to dig deep into the authenticity area, head over to Outlanders for the full Midtown experience.
…shop for a friend. There are plenty of fabulous places to shop in the area like the Cooper-Young Gallery + Gift Shop, Buff City Soap, Goner Record’s, and Burke’s Bookstore. You can’t miss stopping by House of Mews to shop + play with kitties at the same time.
…buy a new outfit. Vintage is the name of the game in the Cooper-Young District. Flashback is one of the coolest stores in Memphis to score amazing finds, as are Loudean’s + Fox + Cat Vintage. You can also check out Urban Outfitters + Lulu Lemon Popup if want something a little more mainstream.
…enjoy a glass of wine. Alchemy + Knifebird are too of my favorite places to drink some vino. Alchemy has awesome happy hour specials + Knifebird has rosé flights.
