Over the past year, I have been working hard to form better habits + take better care of myself. The results of those changes are that I have lost 50 lbs to date! One of the biggest changes has been my relationship with food + finding guilt-free healthy snacks.
Believe it or not, having Chick-fil-A for breakfast, a burger + fries for lunch, and tacos + queso for dinner does not a balanced diet make. I have really been focusing on eating more whole foods + getting adequate nutrition. I still indulge when I want to, but I make sure a carb-y dinner means a lighter lunch. As part of my reprograming, if you will, I have found 10 guilt-free healthy snacks that I love + can eat anytime. They are nutritious + help keep my diet balanced.
Easy Healthy Snacks
Protein: On days I wasn’t losing weight, I realized it was because I hadn’t gotten enough protein to support my body + the exercise I was going. Snacks are a really easy place to get more. Some of my favorite sources are almonds, boiled eggs, string cheese, peanut butter + celery, Greek yogurt, and chocolate chip protein balls (I love these).
Fruits + Veggies: I was definitely not getting my daily recommended nutrients before, but now I strive to get a proper amount of produce every single day. While I am especially partial to fruits, getting in vegetables is just as important. Some of my go-to’s are fruit, especially berries, grapes, cherries, and other small fruit, carrots + hummus, guacamole + pita chips (or bell peppers for extra points), and smoothies.
Fiber: Help your digestion by making sure you are getting enough fiber. These snacks will help you feel more full + keep you from reaching for something else too soon. Some good examples of fiber-rich snacks are air-popped popcorn, rice cakes, roasted chickpeas, oats, and low-carb granola bars.
No matter which of these I choose, I am guilt-free. They all help me stay full + satisfied. If you’re more of a list person, here are my favorite guilt-free healthy snacks.
