I once asked a guy the male equivalent to flowers. As he was unable to come up with a suitable answer, I set out on my own to find something. Personally, I am very pro-flowers. Any + everyone is welcome to send some my way, but not all women have my same floral affinity – and most men I know also do not. So what is something simple yet interesting we can give to those flower haters in our lives? I settled on a liquor bouquet.
Not only do liquor bouquets give people the same feeling of appreciation, but they are also practical. Now they have 12+ mini bottles they can enjoy when the day has been rough. One of the best things about liquor bouquets is that they are fully customizable. Whether they like whiskey, tequila, vodka, etc., you can pick out bottles that fit their taste. The cost of creating this boozey bouquet also varies by your choices. With the liquor making up most of the project costs, choose whatever fits your budget.
Like every good DIY, supplies for the liquor bouquet are minimal. You need 12+ mini bottles of liquor that are roughly the same size. You’ll need to pull out your hot glue gun as well. Next, you can head to your local dollar or grocery store to get a vase/container and skewers. A styrofoam base is optional – I have done it both ways. If you plan to travel with the bouquet, I would advise one to help your stems stay in place. I filled my most recent one with floral beads to hide the skewers, but do as you please.
How to Make A Liquor Bouquet
- Put the styrofoam base in your cup/basket/vase of choice.
- With your hot glue gun, attach skewer to the back of the bottle. Depending on vase size, you may want to cut down your skewers. I recommend doing them at different heights to balance the arrangement. Or you can buy a pack of differently sized skewers.
- Allow to cool and completely adhere.
- Stick the skewers in the styrofoam or place them in the vase. If you are using more than one kind of liquor, develop a pattern so that all of one type is not lumped together.
The best part about this gift is that, like flowers, you can give it over + over again. No matter the occasion – birthday, anniversary, promotion, etc. – this liquor bouquet is a perfect present! It also isn’t gender specific. It can be a gift for a bride-to-be, your dad, a friend celebrating their 21st (or 50th) birthday, or even your work bestie.
